Report: South Park Game Hilariously Censored In Australia

Australia may finally have an adults-only game rating, but that doesn’t mean anything and everything is approved for consumption down under. Take the upcoming South Park game, for example, whose alien anal probe scene has had to be heavily censored for Australian release.

Seems alien anal probes are a sore point for Australian censors; Saints Row IV ran into similar problems upon release.

South park: Stick Of Truth’s issues are a little more complicated, though, as Player Attack point out. According to ratings documents the site has shared, the Australian Classification Board took exception to the fact that the game’s anal probe scene features a kid, has probes that ā€œvisually resemble penisesā€ (as you can see above) and are interactive.

After a number of attempts to modify the scene failed to get it cleared for release, even with an adults-only rating, developers Obsidian did a very Matt-Stone-and-Trey-Parker thing.

In the Australian edition of the game, the interactive scene is now entirely gone. It’s been replaced by text descriptions of the action, including ā€œaliens forcibly probe your rectum with a dildo-shaped probeā€, ā€œprobe his ass with violent forceā€ and ā€œcausing his anal probe to penetrate him over and overā€.

Oh, and while the text is showing, there’s an image of a crying Koala.

Well played.
