StarCraft IIâs next expansion doesnât have an official release date yet, but its creators say itâs almost crossed the finish line.
Speaking to lead designer Dustin Browder in a phone interview this afternoon, I asked how close the team was to completing the game.
âWe are 99% done,â he told me, âbut that last 1%âs a bitch.â
The missions are all playable and the units are all in place, Browder said. âThereâs something in for everythingâitâs whether we like it or not thatâs an open question. Itâs the tuning and polish that really takes us a long time, and thatâs where we get into the unknowns.

In other words, theyâre still on Blizzard Time. But at least theyâre almost done.
