Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion

If you’re looking for a great JRPG that was already designed with a handheld in mind, it’s hard to beat Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion. While Reunion’s older brother, the full remake of Final Fantasy VII, also runs well on the Steam Deck, Crisis Core is a little less taxing on the hardware, and looks great anyway. Also, as it was originally shipped on PSP all the way back in 2007, Crisis Core’s bite-sized missions are an excellent fit for Valve’s handheld.
While Crisis Core has the usual narrative baggage of Final Fantasy VII offshoots, it’s certainly worth it to dive back into this universe. Its story might have you rolling your eyes toward the end, but you’ll forgive it thanks to the excellent speccing system and surprisingly engaging combat mechanics.
