Queues lead to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering, as many now playing Star Wars: The Old Republic claim to be experiencing right now. Jedi and Sith alike are venting their spleens on Twitter and in forum threads, complaining of ungodly wait times and disconnections in the early access period for the heavily anticipated MMO.
BioWareās seen one forum thread on server waits max out in a dayās time, and another opened overnight, and itās filling up fast, too. āThread limit reached in under the amount of time it actually takes to get into the game,ā writes one forum poster. āYou figure out if thatās good or bad.ā
People are throwing an absolute shitfit there, hurling accusations at one another and BioWare, and showcasing their knowledge of network engineering. But our own Mike Fahey reports that heās avoided much of the mess, not seeing unusual wait times and getting in āwith no troubleā earlier this morning. This, of course, may have to do with region, server, and logging in at off-peak times.
Not that we consider this acceptable or trivialize the experience of those who are, in fact, stuck in what one reader compares to an eternal and unmoving Disneyland ride. āItās come to a place that, Iāll turn on Star Wars, even if i donāt want to play, just because i might want to play later.ā
Itās like the Mitch Hedberg joke about baked potatoes. āIt takes forever to cook them. Sometimes, Iāll just throw one in there, even if I donāt want one. By the time itās done, who knows?ā
Is this really a persistent ongoing problem with The Old Republicās early access or just a lot of QQing about queueing from those who should have known it would happen? Weāre here to listen and, no, we wonāt close down this thread, either.
Yes, yes! Let the hate flow through you ā¦
