Nintendo surprised fans by promoting one of Mario’s sidekicks to a starring role this morning. Let’s take a look at the Mushroom Kingdom’s newest hero, shall we?

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker takes one of the playable characters from Super Mario 3D World and puts him square in the spotlight. Nintendo streamed a few levels of the game this afternoon, showing an inviting hybrid of platforming action and puzzle-solving.
