The folks at Oculus have announced the recommended PC specs for the Oculus Rift, in case you wanna start shopping for sales on PC graphics cards sometime in 2015.

Here’s what you’ll need to get by:

NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater

Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater

8GB+ RAM

Windows 7 SP1 or newer

2x USB 3.0 ports

HDMI 1.3 video output supporting a 297MHz clock via a direct output architecture

What does having a PC like this get you?

The goal is for all Rift games and applications to deliver a great experience on this configuration by default. We believe this ā€œit just worksā€ experience will be fundamental to VR’s success, given that an underperforming system will fail to deliver comfortable presence.

Though a 970 seems a tiny bit underpowered for having to render two screens, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens when the consumer version of the Oculus Rift ships early next year.
