Teased earlier this week, Square Enix has lifted the veil on Deus Ex: The Fall, a first-person shooter for iPhone and iPad that picks up where James Swallowâs novel The Icarus Effect left off.

The game is being developed by Square Enixâs mobile division in Europe, working closely with the Human Revolution team at Eidos MontrĂ©al and N-Fusion. Like previous entries in the series, itâs a story-driven action role-playing game that looks and plays like a first-person shooter with a little third-person thrown in for good measure. Itâs the full Deus Ex experience, just more touchy.
âSmart devices are central to Square Enixâs platform strategy and we approach it with the same attention as our boxed and digital releases. Deus Ex: The Fall is going to be testament to our commitment in delivering high quality entertainment on mobile and tablet devices,â said Antony Douglas, General Manager of Square Enix Mobile via official press release.
As Kotakuâs mobile editor, allow me a celebratory fist-pump. The rest of you are free to be angry, annoyed, happy, overjoyed, or any number of emotions that come when a major franchise makes the move to mobile.
The first installment of what is to be a mobile series, Deus Ex: The Fall will hit iOS this summer for $6.99.
Update: Added information from the official pres release and tweaked the headline to avoid first-person confusion.
Update Deux: As noted in the comments, the game is also confirmed for Android devices, though no release window has been specified.
