The People Who Make Pocket God Are First Out of the Gate with All-New iOS 5 Support

iOS 5, the operating system that powers Apple’s iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, goes live October 12. The people who make video games for iOS are already taking advantage of the update’s newest features, including a revamped, Achievements-filled Game Center.

The latest iOS 5 early adopter? The wildly popular Pocket God.

Developers Firemint and Binary Mill have already revealed how they’re integrating iOS5’s features in Real Racing 2 HD and Mini Motor Racing, respectively, taking advantage of iOS’ new iCloud and Airplay Mirroring updates.

Pocket God‘s next update, the 41st(!) episode “I Sting the Body Electric,” will be one of the first to take advantage of iOS 5, adding turn-based multiplayer gaming (“Players will be able to face off against friends and random opponents in the Battle of the Gods minigame introduced in Pocket God Episode 40…”) and iCloud storage (“When players unlock a new challenge or complete a level in the battle arena their progress will be saved and synced across all their devices.”).

Developer Bolt Creative certainly isn’t slow in taking advantage of new Apple hardware and software, introducing some major updates to Pocket God—now downloaded millions of times since its 2009 launch—with the arrival of the iPad
