The mad dash to blame games or to disprove that they are responsible for violent behavior continues. This time, weâve got a study via the Washington Post that analyzes the worldâs largest video game markets.
Ultimately no correlation between consuming video games and gun murders was found, despite the common misconception being that the more a population enjoys video games, the more violent they probably are.
In actuality, thatâs not the caseânot in France, much less in the United States, Germany, Canada, China, Australia, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea or the Netherlands.
Funnily enough, there is a âslight downward shift in violence as video game consumption increases,â meaning that âcountries where video games are popular also tend to be some of the worldâs safest.â
Here are a couple of graphs with the data, if youâd like to inspect further. Click to embiggen.
