This Game Boy has Been to Space. For Real.

In 1993, Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr A. Serebrov blasted off for a trip to the Mir space station. Onboard his Soyuz rocket was this Game Boy, and it can now be yours.

The handheld spent a whopping 196 days in space on the station, managing to orbit our blue ball of dirt over 3000 times. Joining it for the ride was, fittingly for a bunch of people who were still getting over the recent demise of the Soviet Union, a copy of Tetris

Accompanying the Game Boy and game in an auction being held by Bonhams is a note from Serebov, which reads ā€œLike all cosmonauts, I love sport. My particular favorites are football and swimming. During flight, in rare minutes of leisure, I enjoyed playing Game Boy.ā€

The Game Boy will be part of a ā€œSpace History Saleā€ being held by the auction house next month, and is expected to fetch between $1500-$2000.
