Call me out of touch, but I can think of nothing Iâd rather go for than three classics tracks from rockers Hall & Oates coming to Rock Band on January 10.
Some might call them the most important band in the history of music. Then theyâd sober up, take a nap, and forget they ever said it, but that doesnât negate the power of the duo from Phillyâs ârock and soulâ style. They managed to turn an always unfortunate haircut and a moustache with a mind of its own into a musical empire that will stand the test of time.
I made a lot of that up, but trust me, these are the songs aliens will uncover first when they come to investigate the smoldering rock that was once Earth thousands of years from now.
First theyâll groove to âOut of Touchâ from the album Big Bam Boom. That track will send them on a desperate search for more H&O, eventually leading them to a dilapidated Waffle House with a jukebox containing âManeaterâ from the album Private Eyes
Breaking open the jukebox theyâll discover the name of that grand album, instructing their insectoid carna-hounds to search relentlessly for more tracks from the album. After a brief but deadly run-in with Tom Pettyâs âFree Fallin'â, the hounds will discover the albumâs title track.
Eventually these songs, two of which available on January 10 for Rock Band on the Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, will lead the alien to using their impressive technology to reformat the Earth, using a template created by a January 2012 blog post as a template. This may have already happened.

Whatâs that you say? Why did I post a video for âOut of Touchâ instead of âI Canât Go for Thatâ? Leave me alone, Iâm a family man.
