Once the province of sailors and other burly he-man types, skin artā€™s gone mainstream. Even BioWareā€™s Greg Zeschuk got an Old Republic tat and thatā€™s guyā€™s not edgy at all. Tattoos now get seen as just another component of personal style, albeit one thatā€™ll be with you once you get wrinkled and cranky.

So it makes sense that Microsoftā€™s rolling out tattoos for Xbox avatars. These virtual ink etchings are actually treated like other wearable items and are paired up with tank tops. The selection on the Xbox Avatar Marketplace includes classics like the ā€œMomā€ heart tattoo along with tribal patterns, kanji letters and colorful full-sleeves. They range from 160-240 Microsoft points, or $2 to $3, making them the cheapest tattoo youā€™ll probably ever get.
