Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind Tomb Raider and its upcoming sequel, has laid off a small team of staff, Kotaku has learned. These staff were not working on a Tomb Raider game, but a new IP.
We confirmed the news with Crystal Dynamicsâ parent Square Enix this afternoon. Hereâs their statement to Kotaku:
Weâve made some decisions at Crystal Dynamics last week around the second project weâre working on, which has resulted in a small number of roles (roughly 12) becoming redundant as we re-scope the project. This doesnât affect the Tomb Raider development team, who as confirmed last week are well into production on a next-generation sequel. Weâre a close-knit team at Crystal and wouldnât be making these changes if we didnât feel it was absolutely necessary. Weâll help those affected as best we can and we want to thank them for their hard work and commitment. If anyone is looking for development talent, please contact:[email protected] and weâll put you in touch direct.
