Terrifying robot watch update: in the video above, a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) robot called ā€œPet-Protoā€ is locked in a corridor and presented with two obstacles. The first is a step it must climb onto. The second is a gap it must inch across.

Itā€™s like a video game tutorial. Only instead of learning how to move an avatar, itā€™s learning how to get around obstacles so it can complete its mission to eradicate humanity

Itā€™s just one of several robots at DARPA which look, and even move, unnervingly like one of the Metal Gears from Konamiā€™s famous stealth series.
