In January, developer Mistwalker announced it was making The Last Story with Nintendo, a ânew form of RPGâ bound for the Wii. Thatâs Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchiâs newest game. What does the Final Fantasy team think about all this?

âI had heard that Sakaguchi was thinking of a title like this so it wasnât much of a surprise to me,â producer Yoshinori Kitase told Kotaku. âI donât really feel like the name The Last Story really overlaps with Final Fantasy because Sakaguchi-san probably just wanted a simple straightforward title that Japanese users can pick up and understand.â See? No bad blood.
Sakaguchi and Mistwalkerâs other games, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, donât sound too much unlike Square Enix games.
âItâs a very Sakaguchi-san-like title,â Kitase said.
MistWalkerâs âfull-scaledâ RPG, built on the âuniversal theme of human emotionâ is planned for a release in Japan on the Wii this year.
