Mother’s Day was this past Sunday. I honestly thought it was supposed to be today. No, really. (T_T)
I got a call from my mother, thanking me for the flowers she got — flowers that Mrs. Bashcraft had sent her without telling me. I then told my mother she should thanks Mrs. Bashcraft, which she happily did!
Realizing I was not prepared for Mother’s Day (the plan *had* been to have the kids draw pictures of their mommy and get her a present), we all piled in the car and had a nice lunch. Mrs. Bashcraft didn’t seem too annoyed. We spent the rest of the day taking care of her, letting her relax, etc.
I ended up getting her what I think is a pretty great present. Well, actually, I got her a couple of great presents. I bought her a dress (she tried it on, not me) and I got her Vol. 2 and 3 of Haruki Murakami’s newest book 1Q84. Vol.3 was recently released, and I don’t think it has been announced, but the way that the volumes are numbered leads me to believe that we will get the inevitable Vol.4.
Mrs. Bashcraft is a big Murakami fan, she even digs his translations (he translated Catcher in the Rye, among other books). So, I guess, it all worked out! (>_<) And I learned that Mother's Day is always on a Sunday and never on a Monday.
