Hereās exactly how my short play session with the upcoming Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure went at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. āWhat aboutā¦DAMMIT!ā Rinse and repeat.
Since reading about Stephen Totiloās adventures in 5th Cellās upcoming DC Universe joint, Iāve been itching to give the gameās Bat Computer a go. Iāve been queuing up a selection of the most obscure DC Comics characters to put the notion that the game contains nearly every hero and villain ever appearing in a DC book to the test. I wanted to stump the 3DS, Wii U and PC game. I failed.
Dammit. Arms Fall Off Boy popped up immediately in the Bat Computer, ready to put his Legion of Super Heroes reject powers to the test. Fine. I had more.
Oh come on! Infectious Lass? With the power of being infectious? Fine, then what about the entireā¦
At this point I began getting really frustrated. Maybe Suicide Squad wouldnāt make it, what with the game being kid-friendly? Nope, they had two different versions, including the New 52 cast.
A massive heroic congress had assembled in the Gotham City setting. Heroes with no one to fight. I pulled up the Bat Computer and dropped in Calendar Man, spawning him in the sky above the heroes. He didnāt make it to the ground, blasted in mid-air within seconds. I spawned Anti-Monitor to keep the heroes busy (they also took out Cthulhu in seconds), earning me precious time to think.
AHA! I had it!
Son of a ⦠not only did they have Captain Carrot, but the entire Zoo Crew as well ā Yankee Poodle, Pig Iron, Abra Cat-Dabra.
I give up.
Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure is coming out September 24. There is an actual game to play here, something involving quests and the brother-and-sister team of Maxwell and Lilly trying to become superheroes, earning their own costumes along the way.
Iāll likely just stick to one playfield, deploying an endless stream of heroes and villains in the hope of one day restoring my pride.
