Silent Hill 2
Most people were expecting a disaster when Konami first announced plans to remake its iconic PS2 horror game, Silent Hill 2, and marketing ahead of the game didn’t win many over. Then the game came out and almost everyone went, “Oh wait, this is really good!”
Bloober Team’s adaptation of the original Silent Hill 2 isn’t a perfect copy of the OG game, but instead a reimagined spin on that classic survival horror adventure. It blends together modern gameplay and new ideas with old enemies, story beats, and characters to create something that feels new and like an echo of something memorable and special. In the end, Silent Hill 2’s remake isn’t trying to replace the original game. Instead, the game uses the past to build something familiar yet fresh, proving itself to be one of the best spooky games of 2024. — Zack Zwiezen
