Most Final Fantasy VII fans are probably waiting for word on the upcoming third entry of the Remake trilogy, but for those who can’t go that long without seeing Cloud, Sephiroth, and the rest of the crew, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is a gacha game that’s still getting regular updates. Right now, the game is hosting a crossover event with the Nier series, which includes costumes for Final Fantasy VII’s characters based on the heroes of Yoko Taro’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy series. One of them has fans barking and I’m gonna need y’all to get back into your crate.
Aerith, Final Fantasy VII’s healer and one of the most prominent characters in the game’s universe, has a costume based on Kaine from the original Nier. If you’ve ever played the game or its Replicant remaster, you’ll know that Kaine’s outfit is notoriously revealing, to the point where the ever-sassy living tome Grimoire Weiss makes a point to call her out for it whenever he gets a chance.
Kaine and Aerith could not be more different, as the latter is known for her pure heart and desire to do good, while the former is brash, violent, and half her lines could not be broadcast on public television. Even so, we now have a Square Enix-sanctioned model of Aerith in Kaine’s lingerie. Some Aerith fans are reacting about how you’d expect, while others are drawing some pretty great fan art of the new look.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis may not get the same red-carpet treatment as something like Rebirth, but it has some surprising tie-ins to the Remake trilogy, as well as some general backstory fans might want to at least watch on YouTube if they don’t want to get dragged into the gacha grind.
