Mega Charizard X ex Mega Hyper Rare

OK, if the previous Charizard card’s name was silly, this one breaks new records. “Mega Hyper Rare” is the wonderfully hyperbolic name Pokémon has given to the new version of the gold cards, which are seeded so rarely into packs as to be near-impossible to pull. The result is a card name that not only has double-Xs, but contains the word “Mega” twice. Love it.

I also love that this time the gold version isn’t out-pricing the vastly superior SIR. Sure, these are much better than Sword & Shield‘s crappy gold variants, but I can’t imagine wanting to own this more. Although, let’s temper our praise, given it’ll still cost you an eye-watering $615 or more if you want to pick one of these up. No, I didn’t forget a decimal place—this really is ten times more expensive than the third place card.
