Shall we get into why collectors like Lopunny so much? Shall we talk about how the rabbit-like creature is coded to look like some sort of Jazz-age flapper? No, no we shall not. Instead, we can talk about how the Mega Lopunny ex can deal 230 damage on a single energy when moved to the Active Spot, and then an irreducible 160 a turn after that.

I suggested I have issues with the art on this one earlier in this article, and I’ll be interested to see if others strongly disagree. It just seems a mess to me: the right knee somehow the dominant feature in the card, the Lopunny’s head lost in the muddle of blobs in the background, and a bizarre choice of a predominantly brown background for a brown Pokémon. That’s all the more odd when you note it comes from artist Kinu Nishimura, who has only produced four cards for the PTCG ever, and the other three are complete bangers. There’s that stunning Single Strike Urshifu VMAX from Battle Styles, the hilarious Falinks trainer gallery card from Astral Radiance, and one of my favorite Crown Zenith cards, Friends in Hisui full-art.

Either way, that it’s an SIR is certainly keeping its price up at $44.
