Mega Charizard X ex Ultra Rare

Well, it has a very silly name, we can agree on that. Oh, and to avoid confusion, no, this isn’t the Zard card everyone’s losing their minds over. This is, in fact, merely an Ultra Rare, and as such, shouldn’t be tricky to pull. Even so, given the Pokémon and the popularity of the far harder-to-pull other versions, this is selling for significantly more than other much rarer cards.

It’s also so spectacularly OP, and I cannot wait to see how much this messes with the live game. It’s attack depends on discarding energy, which is usually a downer, but in this case it can be from any Pokémon you have in play, and it’s unlimited. Given this is a Stage 2 card, requiring evolution from Charmander and Charmeleon, you’ll likely have a fair amount of energy on the table before you can use it. And kapow, you could be dealing out 450 damage for just five energy discards, enough to take down any other card in the game.

Right now, this Ultra Rare form is selling for $57, but I wouldn’t pin any hopes on that staying up there. This seems like week-one over-excitement to me, and I imagine it’ll be a $20 card as soon as next week.
