Halo gets a pass here as it technically isn’t “verified” for Steam Deck. But don’t move to the next slide just yet, because really it’s only the multiplayer that isn’t supported for now. Now consider this: You can play the campaigns for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 all in handheld format, often at a flawless 60 frames per second. Sounds like a verifiable good time.

Note: If you want to fire up the MCC on Steam Deck, you’ll need to select the “Play Halo: MCC Anti-Cheat Disabled (Mods and Limited Services)” option when you launch the game. It’ll play perfectly from there out.

While the lack of a multiplayer (due to issues with anti-cheat) is an unfortunate but hopefully temporary setback, it’s been great spending more than a few nights these past few months winding down with classic Halo campaigns on the couch, something that just wasn’t possible until now.
