This Week in Gaming Apps Has a Slightly Bigger Screen Than the Previous One

The iPhone 5 started dropping into the eager fans of people that like to play games and make phone calls across the country, and those people need gaming apps. We’ve got your gaming apps right here, buddy.

I didn’t order an iPhone 5 myself, because AT&T didn’t want me to. I used to have my cell account linked with my parents, but it was time to strike out on my own. The AT&T representative told us that if we split our account into a new one, we’d immediately be eligible for a $199 upgrade to the iPhone 5.

It turns out he was lying. Some might say misinformed, but I’m calling it bold-faced lying. Not only do I have to wait until December for an upgrade, I also lost the unlimited data plan I had been enjoying for years, having been grandfathered in when AT&T nixxed the plan. In short, screw AT&T, those lying bastards.

Instead I bought this. The apps are horrible, but the call quality is excellent, and it never drops.

Anyway, gaming apps! Here we go!

Rayman Origins surprised a lot of folks last year with how charming and sharp its presentation and gameplay was. The product of Michel Ancel’s Ubi Montpelier studio felt like a playable animated cartoon, mostly because a very cool game engine let the dev team easily and quickly pull drawings into a game design. Origins was a bit under-appreciated but held in very high regard by those who played it.
