Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the live-action Sonic movies finally reaching their full potential. The third film adapts the story of Sonic Adventure 2, one of the most beloved games in the series, and mostly sheds the corny antics that held the previous movies back. Keanu Reeves stands tall as one of the best actors to capture antihero Shadow the Hedgehog’s inner turmoil (though his performance in Shadow Generations left much to be desired) and Sonic 3 does an excellent job of reinterpreting his story for the live-action universe. Though it still has some of the cheesy low-hanging jokes these movies are known for, and unfortunately ties them to Jim Carrey’s performance as both Eggman and his grandfather Gerald Robotnik, Sonic 3 is Paramount’s live-action universe getting its priorities straight, respecting its characters and the audience, and at last bringing the melodramatic anime-inspired action that made Sonic so beloved to the big screen.
